When dirt is on the plate, a spot is visible on the finished printed product. This imperfection is most visible in areas of heavy ink coverage. A hickey in printing can also be called a bulls eye, or a fish eye.
In the example the second image, the fourth sentence shows a hickey in the “t” in Kitchener.
